So the 80′s are creeping back on us in more ways than one but the leg warmers can still be pulled off without looking like we dragged the ‘like a virgin’ Madonna out of you and here is how:
1)Keep the colour neutral and make sure the colour is complementary to your boots or leggings
2) Wear your leg warmers under a great pair of boots letting them peak out or over a tight pair of boots worn with skinny jeans or leggings
3) If you have a great pair of décolleté shoes, pair them with your leg warmers over leggings with a chunky sweater.

“A man who knows his style knows who he is and where he is going”, I haven’t come across more powerful words ringing more truth. In order for a man to display confidence and determination in both his personal and work life, he will need to walk and talk the part.
The walking and talking part is encompassed by how a man feels in what he is wearing. You don’t have to be an avid follower of international fashion trends or have Bill Gate’s bank balance to look your best, you just need to look in the mirror and consider your face and body shape and then have a look at your hair and eye colour.
Any personal stylist will start off a consultation by considering what body, face and colour type you fall into. This is the starting point to ensure every outfit you buy compliments you. These elements determine whether you need to wear a pair of straight leg pants, jackets with shoulder pads or slim fit jerseys. The way an outfit is put together after you know your type should always work to give your body balance. Getting it right the first time will save you a ton of money in the long run!
Here are some basic must have style elements for a man:
- A good watch
- A leather wallet
- A well constructed quality suit (this doesn’t have to cost a fortune)
- Black pair of shoes
- A black belt
- Dress shirt
- Sports jacket

With the Soccer World Cup only hours away from kick off
I couldn’t think of anything more appropriate to talk about than dressing for the World Cup.
In South Africa, for the past few months, soccer shirts have become a fashion statement, if you are not caught wearing your team shirt on a friday, its sinful! If Roberto Cavalli can come out in support of the World Cup and design an outfit for Shakira’s kick off concert then you know we can take this event to an all time fashion high!
So you want to know how to wear your gear and still look your best, its easy!
Fashion Forwards Soccer Tips:
* Kit up your team shirt with a dark pair of skinny jeans and a pair of sexy high heels to look sassy on a friday while at work.
* Feel like being slightly more casual, slip on a pair of jeans with ballerina shoes and give your looser fitting team shirt some style with a skinny belt tied around your hips.

I loved these two pictures from the parade the South African Soccer Team did in Sandton, Johannesburg yesterday! These are just two trendy examples of young South African remaining true to fashion by styling their outfits! I love the tucking in of the jeans into a pair of boots, rocking a great pair of red shades and the trendy leather jacket, now thats what I call style!
I’ll be uploading some photos of trendy South African that have made the effort to keep the Soccer World Cup trendy on my blog and on facebook so stay tuned, but in the mean time, why don’t you upload your fashion favourites to my facebook page?

So I’ve been a little obsessed with Marc Jacobs quote lately ,“If you’re gonna buy an outfit buy a dress cause then at least you’re dressed!”, and as a result of this I’ve gone dress crazy!
One of my fabulous suppliers down in Cape Town popped into visit me this week and brought some fabulous Lipsy dresses, some I’ve seen before others new, but this time round I was hooked and had to have them! Needless to say I ordered some for the store and some for an event I will be attending (ah the joys of being a fashion buyer)…
Anyway I think M J has a point about the whole buy a dress thing because you just cant go wrong. The best place to start when buying your perfect outfit is with your body type, always buy the cut that suits your body type best!
Fashion Tip of the Week: Dress for your Body Type
* Apple: If you are apple shaped look for dresses that are flat fronted and fasted on the side.
* Hour Glass: If you have the perfect hour glass shape, anything with a v-neck line and pencil skirt will do wonders for you!
* Pear: A wide scooped neck line will balance your chest area with the rest of your body.
These are just some of the body shapes out there, according to Trinny and Susannah there are 12 different body shapes! Stay posted for photos from my fabulous event rocking my favourite Lipsy dress

I came across an article that defined the art of make-up application perfectly “Make-up is to facial skin what colour’s are to canvas” and I couldn’t agree more! Applying make-up to your face is more than just a touch of mascara, a bit of lipstick and a dab of foundation, it’s a work of art that, if done correctly, can bring out a near perfect persona in even the simplest of faces.
After a successful event with Victoria Jackson Make-up last week friday I tought I would start off a new week with make-up and beauty tips:
Beauty Tip of the Week: Luscious Lips
Lip colours are used to enhance the lips and give the appearance of fuller lips. If you are fortunate enough to have fuller lips than light colour’s will work perfectly. Before application of lip colour, lips must be moistened. If one lip varies in colour to the other, start by applying foundation to the lips using a sponge. Lip liner can be applied before the lipstick by following the natural line of the lip, don’t forget to blend. When wearing a red lipstick use a brown pigment to line and fill lips first as this will make the lipstick last longer. Apply lip gloss over lipstick or it can be worn alone.
Dont Forget to catch Victoria Jackson at Atholl Square this week!

It was wonderful to get my hands on the latest issue of Glamour Magazine and read fashion guru Noni Gasa article on “Inside Liezel’s Wardrobe”. Liezel van der Westhuizen, South Africa’s very own radio, tv, sports… just to name a few, personality is a wonderful ambassador for Soteri Collections! Cindy and I love dressing Liezel and making sure she looks her best where ever she is.
Speaking about looking your best, I got my hands on a fabulous book by style icon Nina Garcia, “The Style Strategy”. I have started reading the book to gain fantastic tips on the skills needed to shop with finesse. Its one thing to go out and buy buy buy but lets face it, there is an art to buying the right items of clothing to make sure you have the perfect wardrobe.
I will be passing on some fantastic tips from Nina throughout the weeks.

Fashion Tip of the Week: Sexy and classy… two words that describe this year’s Winter Runway Trends.
The best way to express sexy and classy this winter is by starting off accentuating the waist. Be it a fabulous curvy dress, belted jersey dress or coat, the emphasis is back on the waist!. Fashion for winter is sexier and edgier.
